And on the 11th day.... she skipped her readings. So today I got to read yesterday's and today's readings, and so I am all caught up again!
Today was Genesis 24:52-27:46, Matthew 8:18-9:17; Psalm 10:1-18; Proverbs 3:7-10 in order to get all caught up.
Sooo, history repeats itself! Remember Abraham saying Sarah was his sister on two different occasions? Well believe it or not his son Isaac does the very same thing with his wife, with the very same excuse! Note to self: Learn from the mistakes of others, don't repeat them! (I suppose one could argue from a family perspective that it was a great strategy rather than mistake though since Abraham profited by it both times...)
Esau exaggerates and Jacob exploits the opportunity thereby getting Esau's birth right at the bargain price of a bowl of soup, later Jacob follows mom's plan of trickery and gains the blessing as well.... Still living in the family tradition of answering God's prayers and ensuring His promises for him.... But it is a great example of how God uses all things together for good for those who love the Him. Even our mistakes! It is amazingly cool that He is able to make something great our of our messes.
